Decorating with Textiles
I love decorating with textiles because with their woven nature, they offer an infinite range of colors, patterns and textures that can add just the right finishing touch to your décor. My "go to" textiles include pillows, curtains, throws, and rugs.
For an inexpensive update to your décor, try adding pillows.
Of course custom pillows come in all shapes and sizes and textures, but HomeGoods has a great selection of pillows at reasonable prices making it easy and affordable to update your look. All the pillows on this window seat (above) make it a luscious retreat and this neutral sofa (left) comes to life with the addition of colorful pillows.
How about using textiles to decorate your wall? I just love the gorgeous hooked rug hung on this living room wall. It adds such depth and movement.
Why not display a beloved quilt to warm up the room? Select one of the colors from the quilt for the wallcolor like the rich cocoa wallcolor in this picture. Pick up more of the quilt colors for the floor and furniture.
Last February I went to the International Window Covering Expo in Vegas and took the opportunity to visit all the hotels. One of my favorites was the Venetian, where every detail was exquisite, especially these gorgeous upholstered walls.
And how fabulous are these upholstered walls (right) at Mansion in May? The designer used crystal nail-head trim to add a little bling.
The grey throw adds texture and interest to the white bedding. Tossing a throw on the bed or chair adds color, warmth and texture for a very reasonable price. And finally, baskets are fabulous for decorating. They have been used for their functionality and beauty for thousands of years.
With their varying textures and colors they can be used for storage, furniture, even grouped together and hung on the wall...art!
