2016 Paint Colors of the Year

In today’s society, it has never been more important to find ways to unplug from modern stresses and find peace. Using bright and soothing colors is an inexpensive way to do just that and freshen up your space. Benjamin Moore, Sherwin-Williams, and Pantone recently released their picks for the 2016 paint color of the year. The common theme connecting each choice is clear: colors that relax and refresh. With constant overstimulation and the ever-increasing demands on our time, all three companies chose colors that would help us transform our homes into spaces of mindfulness and relaxation to promote healing, meditation, and rest.

Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams both chose shades of white as their colors of the year. Benjamin Moore’s pick of Simply White is an energizing color that provides a crisp, clean, and refreshed look to any space. Sherwin-Williams’s pick, Alabaster, is symbolic of new beginnings. You can use both colors to transform your space into personal sanctuaries for solace.

To help introduce subtle hints of color, consider pairing neutral colors, like Simply White or Alabaster, with slightly brighter hues to liven up tired spaces. Pantone’s choices for colors of the year (yes, for the first time, Pantone chose two colors!), reflect our ever-growing need for wellness and inner peace.

Rose Quartz and Serenity are welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our need for reassurance and security after experiencing constant stimulation and commotion all day.

While our lives may not slow down any time soon, these new colors of the year can help transform your home into a place that promote rest, relaxation, and peace.
